Do you wish to build something or change the use of land?

Most development projects will need planning approval (as well as other statutory permissions such as Building Regulation approval).

The planning process also includes the preparation of development plans (a function currently undertaken by Cabinet Office). Both processes involve making a submission to the relevant Department which then considers this and makes a determination – planning approval is granted or refused or, land is designated for a particular purpose or it is not. Both processes also involve different stages where challenges to the initial decision may be made.
